NVQs in Customer Service level 1 – 2
The NVQ’s are aimed at individuals working in all business environments who interact directly with the customer.
The NVQ in Customer Service provides a qualification for those:
- Wishing to start a career in hospitality industry, medical reception, front-of-house settings in business and banking, or non face-to-face areas such as call centres etc.
- Changing careers due to seasonal work or redundancy
- Adults returning to work
- Those with English as a second language
- Those limited by current job roles and responsibilities and who require a lower level first step to acknowledging occupational competence.
The NVQ allows them to develop the skills required by employers, and to enter a career in customer service.

Clinical Laboratory Support Level 2
The level 2 NVQ in Clinical Laboratory Support is aimed at individuals working in pathology laboratories. It is likely to be suitable for people who are working as laboratory assistants, porters or laboratory technicians. Possible career opportunities include progression to become a senior laboratory technician or biomedical scientist. NVQs are open to all. There are no entry requirements, no time constraints for completion and no age limits.

Aims
The qualification aims to help learners develop:
- Understanding of the classifications of drugs and how to find out information about drugs
- Awareness of how medication is dispensed and administered and the possible side effects of medication
- Knowledge of the procedures for obtaining, storing and disposing of medicines
- Understanding of the legislation surrounding the supply and storage of medicines
- Knowledge of quality control and the role of the pharmacist in the administration of medicine
- Awareness of the importance of responsibility, accountability and confidentiality in handling medicines
- A basis for further study and/or career development
Target Group
This course is designed for those who wish to develop their knowledge of the safe handling of medicines. These may be learners who wish to access this training with a view to progress to further qualifications, or learners who wish to study this programme in order to complement other programmes. The course is also suitable for learners wishing to develop knowledge to prepare them for employment or for learners who are already in employment and wish to study the programme as part of their own continuous professional development.
Entry Guidance
Access to this qualification is open to all learners. However, a basic level of numeracy and literacy is required to comply with the Health and Safety and assessment aspects of the qualification. The minimum age for entry to this qualification is 18.
Certificate in infection control
This programme is designed for those who are involved in any aspect of health care and wish to develop their knowledge of infection control to provide a hazard-free environment for both clients and colleagues.
Duration: 12 Weeks
Entry Requirements:
- You need to be over 19 years of age and been resident in the EU for the last 3 years. You do not need any formal qualifications to be able to undertake the course.
- You will need to do about 1 - 2 hours work a week for between 12 and 20 weeks dependent upon your previous knowledge and understanding of the subject matter.
