Management Level 2 - 4

Management NVQs are at levels 2, 3 and 4 are aimed at individuals who are in management positions and who are keen to develop their management skills.
All Management NVQs are applicable across business sectors and organisations. Each level is linked to the manager's work role. Level 4 is for middle managers, and level 3 is suitable for supervising managers.
At level 2, the NVQ in Team Leading is suitable for those who are responsible for supervising and managing others in an operational role. This qualification represents an excellent opportunity to develop skills such as working with others, managing oneself, and coordinating the work of others.

Who are these NVQs for?

Level 2 NVQ in Team Leading and Levels 3, and 4 NVQs in Management are cross-sector qualifications. This means that these NVQs in Team Leading and Management will be taken by team leaders and managers across a wide variety of areas, including NHS trusts, educational institutions, government departments and the private sector.
Level 2 candidates can expect to be working as team leaders. There are four mandatory units at this level covering resource management, leadership, working with colleagues and health and safety, together with a choice of option units.

Level 3 candidates can expect to be working as supervisors or first line managers.
Level 3 mandatory units cover topics including resource management, professional development, health and safety, and monitoring of quality, together with a choice of three option units from a wide range of units.

Level 4 candidates can expect to be middle managers and thus hold a more central management role in an organisation. The five mandatory units develop skills in innovation and process, operational plans, working relationships and health and safety.


Business Improvement Techniques Level 1-4

NVQs in Business Improvement Techniques, available at levels 2, 3, 4 are appropriate to all levels within an organisation – from first level to management.
The modules covered are relevant to all types of businesses, and include effective team working, continuous improvement techniques, workplace organisation and problem-solving techniques.
Key benefits for businesses include an overall, sustainable improvement in business performance; a direct reduction in operating costs and waste; and improved staff motivation and effectiveness. The Level 2 Award - designed to cover those people who are:

  • workers involved in business improvement within a team who wish to have their business improvement competencies assessed for certification purposes.
  • new employees who have undertaken some business improvement training and are now acquiring experience within a team and wish to demonstrate their competencies for assessment purposes.
  • other people involved in the business at all levels who require a fundamental understanding of business improvement practices
Candidates are required to complete Mandatory Units and then have a choice of Optional Units.
